There is a representative, leading Mandela Effect both in Japan and overseas that, although we have the image that the heart is located on the left side of the human body, in reality it is in the center. Also, there is a video on YouTube in which the legendary genius Yasushi Okada, who entered the University of Tokyo’s Science Stream III (elite pre-med track) at the top, talks with Horiemon (nickname of entrepreneur Takafumi Horie) and others about the process and conclusion by which he solved his research theme of why the heart is on the left side, namely “the mechanism by which left–right symmetry of the body is broken.” Moreover, it is said that at a rate of about one in 5,000 people there exists a congenital condition called dextrocardia, in which the heart is located on the right side. As for how to reconcile these two facts (is it some kind of difference in point of view or just a matter of how you put it, or is it wobbling, etc.), the author has not, at least for now, obtained a rigorous, satisfactory explanation of the findings. Outside of fiction too, there are many sayings, like how at a factory handling high-voltage current breakers I was taught that pointing-and-calling safety checks must always be done with the right hand (because electric current travels the shortest path, so if you do it with the left hand, the heart lies along the current’s path and you’ll die), or how when I learned CPR from the fire department I was taught to perform sternal compressions slightly to the left (or right) of the body’s midline, and so on, there are numerous such bits of lore. ○ One reason the author has a sense of carelessness/learning-disability regarding medicine and the human body is, for example, that the first knuckle and second knuckle of the fingers—where before the first knuckle was the one closer to the palm—got reversed, or that the right brain and left brain also got reversed, or also that up through elementary school I remember being in a world with a…
