The year when Osama bin Laden was shot dead in Pakistan by a United States Navy special operations unit has shifted to May 2011 (when President Barack Obama of the United States was still in his first term). It should have been sometime between 2013 and 2017. The author was absorbed in Livedoor Blog-type aggregation blogs between 2013 and 2018, and in 2011 he was not yet using the internet, nor did he yet own a smartphone. I distinctly remember that the rumor that the helicopter carrying the US Navy special operators who executed the bin Laden kill operation was shot down in an ambush operation based on false information about an al-Qaeda reprisal, and that all the operators involved were killed in action, spread all at once in articles on aggregation blogs and in comment sections, etc., some months later or about a year later or about two years later—in any case relatively soon after the operation. I think 2010–2011 was the year when President Obama gave a speech saying things like, “America is no longer the world’s policeman.” Also, the remark “America is not the world’s policeman” wasn’t some words from a radio appearance or something like that; it should have been a statement at a press conference in a place like the Matsu-no-Roka (the Pine Corridor in Edo Castle, famous in a historical incident) of the White House. Happy Science (a Japanese new religious movement) also boasted that things had turned out just as they had been saying all along and that their prophecies had hit the mark. - The one who said “A friend of a friend is al-Qaeda” was Kunio Hatoyama when he was Minister of Justice, but the author had long thought it was Yukio Hatoyama. It seems many people make the same mistake.
