The security unit for Japan’s nuclear power–related facilities commanded by the National Police Agency changed in name from the Nuclear Facility Guard Unit to the “Nuclear Plant Special Security Unit,” as if it had been that way all along for years, retroactively. Also, at the 33 operating nuclear power plants, there are 30 riot police officers on three 10-person shifts, with 20 rapid-reaction riot police on standby.
