In 2013 there was an overlap of the Shikinen Sengu (periodic rebuilding ceremony) of Izumo Taisha and Ise Jingu, and while Ise Jingu is on a 20-year cycle, I had thought Izumo Taisha also had some number-of-years cycle kind of story, but when I looked it up for the first time in a while, Izumo Taisha has no particular periodicity, and they just rebuild it when it gets suitably old. Was I confusing it with the story of periodical cicadas or something? As an aside, the enshrined deity of Izumo Taisha is Okuninushi no Mikoto, but for some reason it seems there are not a few people who mistakenly think it is Susanoo no Mikoto.
